"More on that black sarcophagus and the GOLD inside…" ~ Chris Naunton
Some more about 'That black sarcophagus' - because that's how Archaeology works, quite frankly.
You might be forgiven for having the impression that Egyptology consists of "Something is dug up, the media lose their minds with speculation (rather than reporting facts), the public is confused by erroneous reporting and hyperbole, someone posts a satirical story just to muddy the (sewage) waters, everyone move on to the next 'omg I can see a face in a photo of a desert if I squint and turn the photo upside down' story."
Thankfully it isn't like that in reality. The story is always ongoing. Something is dug up, taken away and studied carefully. Similar items are examined and compared, papers are published, findings discussed.
Here are some further thoughts from Egyptologist Chris Naunton about the unusual gold plaques found in the sarcophagus.
There's gold! There's tomb robbery! There's a new book!
