Sunken Cities exhibition on June 24, 2016 at the British Museum.

I saw the #SunkenCities exhibition on June 24, 2016 at the British Museum. It was both interesting and enjoyable, and although it focuses on the Ptolemaic era, it included some very ancient surprises like a black basalt "bed" of Osiris from the early dynastic period.

Also included were ritual items associated with Osirian festivals such as grain effigies, lamps and ritual boats and food "parcels" made of lead used as offerings. The Hapy statue shown in the short video represents the bounty of the Nile and was one of several extremely large pieces recovered. Also recovered were incredibly tiny pieces including gold amulets which were best viewed via the use of magnifying lenses behind which they were mounted.
